Germany to Join the Open Government Partnership

At the German-French Minister’s Council in Metz on April 7, 2016, the German Government (finally) announced that it would join the Open Government Partnership (OGP).

The Joint Declaration says (rough translation):

Germany and France have committed themselves to renew democratic practices by increasing transparency and participation for citizens. In that sense, Germany decided to submit its candidacy for membership in the Open Government Partnership, which is going to be chaired by France starting October 2016.
